“I never knew that there was a different way to live. I was trapped in a darkness that I thought, for years, was life or at least my life. It was who I believed I was, who I am, and who I will become. I was ready for it all to end, for it was already over, it had never began. I had no hope for a future worth having. I gave up my dreams of marrying, of being a mother, of living in a house with a red front door and a white picket fence. I gave up and believed that I could never have what I watched so many others obtaining.
Three years ago I attended a wellness festival in Idaho Falls, where I heard someone speak the words that stirred my soul, that spoke to my heart, that showed me that there was a little light somewhere in this darkness that I called life. I followed that voice, those words, and the look of compassion, light, and love that I saw in the face of a stranger, whom has turned into a precious friend. I followed Johnna Andrea Tuttle.
Though the journey has included bumps and dips, detours and repetition, I am standing here, where I never could have imagined myself being. I have learned that I am strong, courageous, beautiful, worthy, loved, and brave. I look in the mirror, into the blue eyes that stare back at me, and I know where she has been and where she is now, and I am amazed. I have found that the light exists within and always has been there. I found the true me and for the first time in my life, I love this woman looking back at me.
Today, three years later, I stand here bearing the most precious gift that I could have ever received. Not only did I find my true self through the journey that Johnna has helped me on, but I found one of my dreams that I had given up on. I am carrying inside of me the brightest light that I have ever witnessed seeing; I am carrying a baby boy, a soul that is my beautiful son.
The journey may have been hard at times, but the process of discovering the truth of who I really am was worth every step. I like to say that the purpose in life is to discover your world and with all your heart, give it to yourself and allow yourself to accept and receive it fully. I have been discovering my world with every sense of my being. I look forward to so many things to come, especially showing my son the world and how wonderful and precious he is. I thank God that He brought Johnna into my life, and that through them, I found the truth, light, and love that I am.
